What About My Caffeine?
So, are you worried about the absence of caffeine? Have no fear because matcha actually does contain caffeine, but a far smaller and healthier amount than coffee. Basically, matcha will not cause a high and low blood sugar response in the body, unlike coffee (a.k.a. cortisol or stress response), you won’t get the shakes if consumed on an empty stomach and it will not dehydrate the body. Furthermore, matcha is a true superfood!
Benefits of Matcha
Matcha has been reported to have up to 137x more antioxidants than regular green tea, according to a 2003 study that was published in Pub Med by AJ Weiss. Basically, when you drink matcha it is estimated you are, “decreasing your age by one year with each cup.”
Not only is this potent green powder gorgeous, it can actually make us gorgeous too by promoting anti-aging.
Mother Nature certainly didn’t cheat us when it comes to foods that have the ability to heal, provide longevity, as well as vitality. Always choose organic, fair-trade varieties of matcha to steer clear of harmful pesticides.
Sacred Properties of Spirulina
So what’s so sacred and magical about spirulina? Basically, this food literally converts sunlight into green and blue pigments and is stocked full of amazing nutrients. The green in its composition is chlorophyll, which is helpful in detoxifying the body. The blue pigment, called phycocyanin, is an amino acid group that makes it an excellent source of plant protein. Therefore, the nutritional components are so balanced that our bodies can easily absorb, assimilate and utilize the superior properties of the algae and at the same time, it boosts the immune system. (Bauman)
Spirulina contains over “100 synergistic nutrients” and is considered one of the greatest complete sources of nutrition.
Today, Spirulina is consumed by millions of people globally and nutritional researchers are discovering numerous health benefits apart from its nutritive value. What is so interesting is African leaders, scientists and aid organizations believe spirulina is a sustainable food that might just be the answer to world hunger! Seriously, what can be better than this? (Tefera)
Benefits of Moringa
Moringa has been coined the “Miracle Tree,” due to its cancer prevention properties. A strong anti-inflammatory food, moringa has been shown to detox arsenic, as well as reduce blood sugar and cholesterol. On top of this, moringa is rich in antioxidants, so it has the ability to balance or fight free radicals in the body.
One study in women found that taking 1.5 teaspoons (7 grams) of moringa leaf powder every day for three months significantly increased blood antioxidant levels.
In terms of diet and nutrition, moringa is the perfect nutrient-dense food to add into the diet, as it also provides iron, vitamin B6 and vitamin A. Moreover, moringa also has one of the highest antioxidant contents of any food. With an ORAC value of 157,000, it has 6x the antioxidants of goji berries and comparable levels to the antioxidant powerhouse matcha.
