  • ✨Vitamin C✨... It is also crucial for collagen formation in the skin and is a co-factor for iron absorption. More importantly, it yields antioxidant protection in the body. (Murray, 2005) Because Vitamin C is one of the body’s most important antioxidants and the body cannot make it, it is very important to incorporate Vitamin C rich foods (like broccoli, chard, guava, rosehip, acerola, red bell pepper and citrus 🍊) to ensure proper levels in the body. ⠀

Particularly, Vitamin C is high in bioflavonoids, which have been shown to protect vitamin C and preserve its action. In fact, they also work together to help protect against inflammation, which is important for reducing stress on the body. (Bauman, 2015)⠀

Food always first before supplementation. We also have to reduce stress at meal times to ensure we are breaking down and assimilating the food we’re eating! So low lighting, music 🎶 , pretty plates 🍽, breathing, chewing 15-20x, setting the fork down between bites and making meals a self-care ritual. All of these mindfulness techniques contribute to better digestion and utilization of vitamins and minerals....those things we need for energy and optimal health!😉(talked about this in my stories today)
